Writing the Clinical Psychology doctorate personal statement. | Psychology Ponderings
Though invaluable experience can be gained from working as a support worker or healthcare assistant, working as an assistant psychologist is considered by many to be the holy grail of experience. This is because assistants will normally receive regular clinical supervision from a Clinical Psychologist, use various therapeutic models to produce formulations with patients, working one-on-one with patients or in psycho-educational groups etc. Experience gained from research posts are valuable also, particularly through using various psychometric tests with patient samples, however this experience alone does not seem to always be enough to perform well in doctorate interviews, that always comprise a clinical element.
