There are writers, educators, scientists, heads of state, politicians, civil rights crusaders, artists, entertainers, and others. Some were alive hundreds of years ago and some are living today. We've heard of some of them, while many more have been ignored by history book writers. Gifts of Speech A project of Sweet Briar College and in existance since , "Gifts of Speech" is a Web site dedicated to preserving and creating access to speeches by influential contemporary, women from around the world. International Center for Research on Women This Web site provides access to a library collection of over 13, reports, books, fact sheets, and policy briefs that focus on gender and women's issues in an international context. The site includes access to fact sheets, surveys, policy briefs, and brochures on global issues with a focus on women and gender.

GAD focuses on social, economic, political and cultural forces that determine how men and women participate in, benefit from, and control project resources and activities differently. This approach shifts the focus from women as a group to the socially determined relations between women and men. The GAD approach promotes a development process that transforms gender relations in order to enable women to participate on an equal basis with men in determining their common future.
The journal strives to bring together international research pertaining to gender and gendered relations across societal spaces and structures irrespective of the geopolitical premise of these interactions. Further, given the various recent issues at a transnational level ranging from legalization of same-sex marriage in Germany to a disturbing increment in the number of reported cases of violence against women in India, the necessity of such contributions is crucial. The journal will contribute to the broader spectrum of such research and its subsequent dissemination.
